While this is an exciting time, it’s also a critical period to establish habits that support performance, recovery, and long-term health.
At Hoys Allied Health, we work closely with schools, including Bishop Druitt College and its High Performance Program, to support student athletes in achieving their best—both on and off the field.
Building Strong Foundations for Performance
A successful season starts with the right foundations. As training loads increase, young athletes need consistent support across nutrition, hydration, recovery, and injury prevention. Developing these habits early not only improves performance but also reduces the risk of setbacks throughout the season.
Nutrition for Growing Athletes
Fueling the body correctly is essential, particularly for adolescents balancing school, sport, and growth. Regular meals and snacks that include a balance of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats help maintain energy levels, support muscle recovery, and promote healthy development.
Hydration and Performance
Hydration is often overlooked but plays a key role in physical and mental performance. Even mild dehydration can impact concentration, endurance, and recovery. Athletes should aim to hydrate consistently throughout the day, not just during training sessions.
Injury Prevention and Recovery
Structured warm-ups, cool-downs, and mobility work are essential components of any training routine. These strategies help prepare the body for activity, improve movement efficiency, and reduce the risk of injury.
It’s also important to address minor aches and pains early. What may seem like a small issue can develop into a more significant injury if left unmanaged.
Expert Support When It’s Needed
Our team of Exercise Physiologists, Physiotherapists, and Dietitians work with young athletes to provide tailored support across performance, recovery, and injury management.
Through our partnership with Bishop Druitt College’s High Performance Program, we see firsthand the benefits of combining structured training with professional health support to help students build confidence, resilience, and consistency in their sport.
If your child would benefit from additional support this season, our team is here to help. Contact Hoys Allied Health on 02 6652 7355 to learn more.
