Workplace rehabilitation is the process of providing professional advice, guidance and support to injured workers and their employers in order to enable a safe and timely return to work.
Exercise Classes
Active
Designed for individuals with a basic fitness level, looking for an Active type of workout.
Core Equipment
Sessions focused on core muscle activation and strengthening through the use of specialised core equipment (reformer and trapeze table). The versatility of the equipment enables beginners through to advanced attendants to participate, helpful for people who have trouble getting on and off the floor.
Core Mat - Beginner
A way of exercising using low impact flexibility and endurance movements to develop muscular strength. Balance, core strength and better postural alignment. Fundamentals of Pilates gradually increasing the intensity of your workout. Excellent in treating lower back pain and tightness of muscles.
Core Mat - Intermediate
A class designed to create a stronger core, lean long muscles and strong backs. Power stretching and core cardio moves are incorporated to leave your body feeling strong and revitalised and your muscles relaxed. Equipment such as the band, ring and ball are used in this class.
Hydrotherapy
Aquatic Physiotherapy is a specifically designed exercise program conducted in a heated swimming pool which provides a supported non-weight bearing exercise environment. Hydrotherapy classes can be booked as an individual 1:1 session, supervised 1:4 session.
Prime
Designed for individuals in the Prime of their life, looking to prime and start their fitness journey.
Strong
Designed to help build strength and condition muscles, created for people with a reasonable fitness level.
Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a low-impact, gentle form of exercise that can benefit individuals of all ages and fitness levels.

Hoys Work Health has been providing these services in Northern New South Wales since 1994. Our team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Rehabilitation Counsellors, and Registered Psychologists focus on early intervention, open and effective communication, and the achievement of client specific goals and plans.
Services include:
Initial Needs Assessment
- A comprehensive assessment engaging with the worker to identify obstacles to return to work.
- Solution focused tailored recommendations aimed at a safe and timely return to work.
Workplace Assessments
- An assessment of the workplace and pre-injury role to gain a sound understanding of the physical and psychological demands required to achieve pre-injury duties.
- Collaboration with the worker and employer to identify appropriate suitable duties to facilitate a timely return to work.
Functional Capacity Evaluations
- An assessment of an individual’s functional ability, using a series of standardised tests and work specific simulations to assess capacity for work.
Psychological Assessments
- Assessment of an individuals’ capacity to perform various psychological or cognitive tasks. Provides a measurement of that person’s current symptoms and fitness for work.
Case Conferencing
- Face to face engagement with the treating doctor, worker and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate medical intervention to aid recovery at work; discuss return to work strategies; and facilitate upgrades in medical certification as appropriate.
Vocational Assessments
- Identifying the worker’s vocational goals through an analysis of their skills, experience, qualifications, interests and work preferences.
- An analysis of the local labour market to ensure job match between workers abilities and the demands of the job, and viability of the vocational goals.
Earning Capacity Assessments
- Assessment of an individual’s capacity to earn taking into account their existing skills, experience, qualifications, age and current work capacity.
Returning to Work Coordination
- Designing, implementing and monitoring a graded return to work plan.
- Liaison with all stakeholders throughout the return to work process to ensure all parties are aware of the worker’s recovery progress and that this is reflected in suitable duties at work.
- Assistance for the worker and employer to overcome any barriers that may present throughout the process.
Activities of Daily Living Assessments
- Analyses an individual’s functional performance in the areas of personal, self-care, domestic and general home maintenance activities in and around the home.
- Coordination of recommended services and equipment that will support recovery and return to work.
